Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiquities

In this day and age of industrialized poultry production, the fate of traditional breeds of poultry is bleak at best.  Fewer and fewer households are maintaining flocks of poultry.  Those kept are of lesser and lesser quality, due to poorer and poorer breeding, which only magnifies our dependence on industrial hybrids.  Perhaps no other organzation does more to protect individual breeds of poultry than the SPPA.

Visit the SPPA website and, if you can spare the few dollars in dues, join up.  This little organization enables poulterers to locate hundreds of small flocks of rare heritage poultry.  Indeed, Yellow House Farm is deeply in their debt.  Thanks to the SPPA, we offer the breeds that can now, once again, grace our tables.  Thank you, SPPA!!:
